Speculation Lingers Over Timothée Chalamet’s Identity as EsDeeKid
Timothée Chalamet sparked intrigue during a recent interview regarding speculation that he may be the underground British rapper EsDeeKid, a theory that has captured the imagination of fans online.
Chalamet, 29, was promoting his upcoming film on the British radio program Heart Breakfast when host questions led to the speculation. When directly asked if he was indeed EsDeeKid, he offered only a cryptic response, stating, "I got no comment on that. No, I mean, I got no comment."
Further complicating the inquiry, the hosts pointed out visual similarities between Chalamet and EsDeeKid, including alike eye shapes and coordinating skull scarves. Chalamet maintained his playful demeanor, responding, "I’ve got two words on that," before jokingly adding, "All will be revealed in due time. That was a little more than two words."
The actor also referenced his high school rap persona, "Lil Timmy Tim," citing a viral performance from 2012, and humorously compared the two names, concluding, “Let me tell you, Lil Timmy does not have the same ring to it.”
Rumors of a possible connection between Chalamet and EsDeeKid gained momentum earlier this year, particularly after Chalamet attended a Fakemink concert in August. Fakemink is featured on EsDeeKid’s track “LV Sandals,” leading fans to draw further parallels.
EsDeeKid, who performs with his face obscured and claims to be from Liverpool, released his debut album Rebel in June. The artist has gained significant traction, boasting over 11 million monthly listeners on Spotify, yet his real identity remains largely unknown.
Chalamet, meanwhile, has a long-standing appreciation for hip-hop, expressing admiration for artists like Kid Cudi and Nicki Minaj. In a notable 2020 appearance on Saturday Night Live, Chalamet played a comedic rap character named $mokecheddathaassgetta.
As he continues to promote Marty Supreme, which premieres in theaters on December 25, fans remain eager for clarity surrounding the EsDeeKid rumor. Recently, Chalamet appeared at the Los Angeles premiere of his film alongside girlfriend Kylie Jenner, both donning coordinated outfits.
