Tickets for the 2028 Olympics Now Available for Local Applicants
Los Angeles to Host the Olympics for a Historic Third Time in 2028
The Olympic Games will return to Los Angeles in 2028, marking the city’s third time hosting the prestigious event. The opening ceremony is scheduled for July 14, with competitions running until July 30. The LA28 Paralympic Games will commence on August 15 and conclude on August 27.
In a notable feature of the upcoming games, the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum in Exposition Park and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood will jointly host the opening and closing ceremonies, showcasing a dual-venue celebration.
Early ticket sales will launch this Thursday, offering pre-registered residents from Southern California and Oklahoma City, where some events will take place, the opportunity to purchase tickets. Selected individuals who entered a random drawing will receive notifications via email regarding their purchasing window from April 2 to April 6.
Those chosen will have a two-day window to complete their purchases online, with a broader public sale set to follow from April 9 to April 19. Organizers allow selected buyers to purchase up to 12 tickets, with an additional 12 tickets available for Olympic soccer matches. However, purchases for the opening and closing ceremonies will be limited to four tickets per person.
Organizers have warned participants to expect online queues when accessing the ticketing platform. Fans will be able to search for events by sport, venue, or location, but specific seat assignments will be confirmed later. Ticket prices are expected to vary significantly, starting at $28 for entry-level seats and exceeding $1,000 for premium options, with approximately half of the tickets priced above $200 and around 5% above $1,000.
Eligibility for the pre-sale ticketing phase is limited to purchasers with billing addresses linked to specific ZIP codes in Los Angeles, Orange, Riverside, San Bernardino, and Ventura counties. Additional ticket releases are anticipated in the coming months, along with a resale market set to launch in 2027.
Earlier this week, LA28 provided details on its verified ticket resale program, further enhancing accessibility for Olympic fans.
