In a series of competitive matchups on April 8, local high school baseball and softball teams delivered impressive performances across various divisions.
Baseball Highlights:
In the City Section, Community Charter triumphed over Valor Academy with a score of 15-7. Other notable games included Downtown Magnets defeating Jefferson 4-1 and North Hollywood securing a victory against Verdugo Hills, 7-2. Sun Valley Magnet dominated Discovery, achieving a 15-0 shutout. In additional highlights, Sylmar won decisively against San Fernando with a score of 9-0, and Torres blanked Maywood Academy, winning 11-0.
In the Southern Section, Agoura edged out Calabasas 1-0 in a tightly contested match. Alta Loma narrowly defeated San Dimas with a final score of 9-8, while Anaheim Canyon triumphed over Crean Lutheran 2-1. Ayala’s offense was robust, shutting out Los Osos with a 10-0 scoreline. Other key scores included Bell Gardens beating Glenn 7-1 and Citrus Valley overcoming Yucaipa 5-1.
The Intersectional matches saw Alemany defeat Desert Oasis 8-7 and Cathedral besting Pioneer Valley 8-3, while Compton won against Port of LA 1-0.
Softball Highlights:
In the City Section, Alliance Levine overcame CALS Early College 18-13, while Carson recorded a commanding 24-0 win against Gardena. Lakeview Charter also excelled, winning 16-1 over Valley Oaks CES. Notable performances included LA Roosevelt’s 12-5 victory over Huntington Park and Northridge Academy’s 20-1 win against Vaughn.
In the Southern Section, Agoura showcased a dominant performance against Calabasas, finishing 15-0. Alhambra defeated Glendale with a score of 13-2, and California Military bested San Jacinto Valley Academy 19-7. Other strong displays included Elsinore’s 22-2 triumph over San Jacinto and Heritage Christian’s 24-3 win against Marymount.
Overall, the day’s games highlighted exceptional athletic talent and competitive spirit among high school teams, setting an exciting tone for the remainder of the season.
