Three Men Face Charges in Connection with Death of Emerging Latin Singer DELAROSA in Los Angeles
Three Men Charged with Murder in Shooting of LA Artist DELAROSA
Three men were charged with murder on Wednesday, November 26, in connection with the death of 22-year-old Maria De La Rosa, a rising Latin artist known as DELAROSA. She was shot over the weekend while sitting in a parked car in Los Angeles.
De La Rosa was in the Northridge neighborhood early Saturday morning with two companions when three men approached their vehicle and demanded money, according to prosecutors. The assailants then opened fire, striking all three occupants.
Following the incident, De La Rosa was transported to a hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries. The other two individuals suffered critical wounds.
“This was a ruthless and targeted attack that stole the life of a young woman and artist and inflicted profound lifelong trauma on her family and the two survivors,” said LA County District Attorney Nathan Hochman in a news release.
Law enforcement swiftly made arrests, apprehending a 27-year-old man on the same day of the shooting and another 27-year-old the following day. A warrant has been issued for a third suspect, aged 21. All three suspects, residents of Northridge, face one felony count of murder and two felony counts of attempted second-degree robbery.
DELAROSA had garnered over 40,000 followers on Instagram and released a new single in August titled "No Me Llames," which translates to "Don’t Call Me." In the aftermath of her passing, many fans and industry figures, including Jimmy Humilde, founder of Rancho Humilde, expressed their condolences on social media.
Her last Instagram post hinted at new music, stating, “Ocupada cocinando en el Stu 🎶👩🏻🍳no me llames 🪄🪞🐩 Ya es tiempo… GAME TIME BABY,” which translates to “Busy cookin in the Stu. don’t call me. It’s about that time.”
