The Release Date for Season 6 of ‘The Chosen’ Is Here on Prime Video
Premiere Date Set for Season 6 of The Chosen
The Chosen, the acclaimed historical drama series based on the life of Jesus, will premiere its sixth season on November 15 on Prime Video, both in the U.S. and internationally. The announcement was made on Friday by the streaming platform and 5&2 Studios, accompanied by a teaser image.
The upcoming season will debut with three episodes, followed by a weekly release of individual episodes until December 6. In a notable development, both the season finale and the premiere of Season 7 will be released theatrically, with the finale scheduled for spring 2027. This season will be accessible via Prime Video in multiple regions, including Canada, Australia, New Zealand, Sub-Saharan Africa, the UK, and Latin America.
Dallas Jenkins, Chairman and Chief Creative Officer of 5&2 Studios, expressed the significance of the narrative, stating, “Everyone knows the basics of this part of the story, but not everyone knows the ‘why’ of the crucifixion and the extraordinary events of these 24 hours. We realized this not only deserved a season of television but a standalone full-length theatrical event as well. We wrote and filmed all of it with this in mind.”
The Chosen offers an intimate portrayal of Jesus’ life through the experiences of those around him, set against the backdrop of Roman oppression in first-century Israel. Season 6 will depict Jesus’ final day, exploring the emotional and historical complexities surrounding his death. The narrative highlights differing perspectives: while Pharisees term it justice and Romans call it peace, His followers view it as murder. In the midst of turmoil, Jesus remains steadfast in his ultimate resolve—the cross.
Returning to the cast are Jonathan Roumie as Jesus, Shahar Isaac as Peter, Paras Patel as Matthew, Elizabeth Tabish as Mary Magdalene, and several others.
In 2025, Amazon MGM Studios signed a multifaceted first-look deal with 5&2 Studios, securing streaming rights to the first five seasons of The Chosen, along with several related series. This agreement also includes rights to the final two upcoming seasons, which will cover the crucifixion and resurrection narratives. Distribution for The Chosen is managed by Lionsgate.
Currently, the first five seasons of The Chosen are available for streaming on Prime Video.
