The Release Date for Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power Has Been Announced on Prime Video
Prime Video has announced that Season 3 of The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power will premiere on November 11. The date was unveiled Monday during Prime Video’s presentation at Amazon’s annual Upfront event.
This fantasy series has achieved remarkable popularity, with Season 1 marking the largest TV series premiere in Prime Video’s history. Season 2 has also performed notably, ranking among the Top 5 most-watched returning seasons and debuting as the #1 Original Series on Nielsen’s Streaming Top 10 Chart, where it maintained a position in the top four throughout its entire run.
“From the very beginning, this series has embodied the scale, ambition, and cinematic storytelling that define Prime Video’s biggest global series,” said Peter Friedlander, Head of Global Television at Amazon MGM Studios. “The extraordinary response from millions of fans around the world has made it clear that this journey through Middle-earth continues to resonate, and that momentum has only grown heading into Season Three.”
Set during the Second Age of Middle-earth, The Rings of Power explores the heroic tales that unfold thousands of years before J.R.R. Tolkien’s The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. Viewers are taken back to a time when powerful forces were created, kingdoms rose to greatness and fell into decline, and unlikely heroes emerged amidst the looming threat of the greatest villain in Tolkien’s universe.
The series follows an ensemble cast as they confront the anticipated return of evil to Middle-earth. From the depths of the Misty Mountains to the lush forests of the elf capital of Lindon, and the stunning island kingdom of Númenor, these characters and their legacies will endure long after their time.
Season 3 advances further into the story, depicting the intense backdrop of the War of the Elves and Sauron. At this pivotal moment, the Dark Lord strives to forge the One Ring, a creation that will grant him dominion over all Middle-earth.
Production for Season 3 is led by showrunners and executive producers J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay, with additional executive producers Lindsey Weber, Justin Doble, Kate Hazell, and EP-director Charlotte Brandstrom. The series is produced by Amazon MGM Studios, with Matthew Penry-Davey as producer and Ally O’Leary, Tim Keene, and Andrew Lee serving as co-producers.
