The Housemaid Available for Digital Purchase Next Week After Successful $300M+ Box Office Run
Paul Feig’s latest film, The Housemaid, has become his highest-grossing movie, surpassing the $300 million mark at the global box office earlier this week. The film is set to be available on premium digital and video on demand starting February 3, following a 46-day theatrical run, according to Lionsgate.
Last weekend, The Housemaid edged out Feig’s previous record-holder, Bridesmaids, marking a significant milestone in the filmmaker’s career.
The Housemaid is the fourth project from producer Todd Lieberman and Hidden Pictures to exceed the $300 million threshold. The film, based on the novel by Freida McFadden, was developed at Lionsgate, and Feig’s direction helped bring the story to life. A sequel, penned by screenwriter Rebecca Sonnenshine, is already in the works, with Feig expected to return.
In The Housemaid, Millie (Sydney Sweeney), a recent ex-con, takes a position as a live-in housemaid for the affluent couple, Nina (Amanda Seyfried) and Andrew Winchester (Brandon Sklenar). What starts as a promising opportunity quickly devolves into a perilous game filled with secrets, power struggles, and unexpected twists. The film boasts a 92% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes and a 74% certified fresh rating from critics.
Beginning February 3, viewers can find the film on platforms such as Prime Video, Apple TV, Fandango at Home, Google TV, YouTube, and more.
