The Author of ‘The Devil Wears Prada’ Shares a Thoughtful Gift from Anna Wintour
Lauren Weisberger, the author of “The Devil Wears Prada,” graced the New York City premiere of the film’s sequel on Monday night, accompanied by her husband and two children.
The event, held at Lincoln Center, marked another milestone for Weisberger, whose original novel was inspired by her experiences as Anna Wintour’s assistant. Despite the glamorous façade associated with fashion, Weisberger’s journey was not solely about coffee runs and dowdy sweaters.
Weisberger shared on Instagram that her daughter carried a bag gifted to her by Wintour in the early 2000s, remarking, “Many moons ago Anna Wintour gifted me the very Prada bag that, tonight, my beautiful daughter carried down the red carpet.”
The iconic Cleo bag has become a fashionable relic from that era, passed down through generations.
Weisberger’s involvement in the fashion industry began when she worked for Vogue for less than a year before releasing her book in 2003. The original iteration of Weisberger’s experiences led to the 2006 film adaptation, which has now generated anticipation for its sequel, hitting theaters on May 1.
Throughout the evening, Weisberger kept fans engaged with behind-the-scenes selfies and heartfelt moments with her family.
In attendance at the premiere was Anna Wintour, also dressed in Prada—a custom striped gown from 2016. Wintour’s daughter-in-law made headlines as well, donning a floral Prada dress previously worn by Wintour in 2019.
The excitement surrounding “The Devil Wears Prada 2” continues to build, inviting audiences back into a world of fashion filled with glamour and intrigue.
