The American Cinematheque Podcast: Celebrating Film with Edgar Wright and Mary Bronstein Kicking Off in April
EXCLUSIVE: The American Cinematheque is set to launch its inaugural podcast, hosted and executive produced by the organization’s Artistic Director, Grant Moninger. The podcast will debut on April 2.
The American Cinematheque Podcast is designed as a weekly interview series that celebrates the nonprofit’s extensive film festival programming. The format invites filmmakers to curate what they term the “film festival of their lives,” using their most significant moviegoing memories as a backdrop.
The podcast combines interviews with an engaging game-show element, prompting guests to reflect on the theaters, screenings, and cinematic experiences that ignited their passion for film. Stories span from childhood theaters to contemporary microcinemas, capturing memories of sneaking into pivotal screenings and the power of shared audience reactions. The initial episodes will feature filmmaker Edgar Wright and Mary Bronstein from If I Had Legs I’d Kick You, both launching on April 2. A trailer for the podcast is available for viewing.
Episodes will be accessible in both video and audio formats every Thursday on YouTube and major podcast platforms. An interactive version will also be offered on the podcast’s dedicated website. Upcoming guests include notable figures such as Franklin Leonard, Larry Karaszewski, Karyn Kusama, Walter Murch, and Patton Oswalt, with additional names to be revealed in the future.
