The Texas A&M University community is in mourning following the unexpected passing of sophomore Brianna Aguilera. Her death occurred Saturday morning, just hours after attending a tailgate party related to the University of Texas football game. Local authorities reported the incident to KBTX, stating that it happened shortly before 1 a.m. while she was at a student apartment complex near the university. The Austin Police Department has indicated that there are no signs of foul play, though a cause of death is still pending investigation by the Travis County Medical Examiner.
In the wake of this tragedy, Aguilera’s family has launched a GoFundMe campaign to assist with funeral expenses. The page describes her as a cherished daughter, sister, and friend who graduated from United High School in Laredo, Texas, with Magna Cum Laude honors, having been an enthusiastic cheerleader. Agrolicera was pursuing a degree at The Bush School of Government & Public Service at Texas A&M, with aspirations of becoming a lawyer. Her family highlighted that she was just a year away from receiving her Aggie ring, a symbol of pride for Texas A&M students.
“It is with the heaviest of hearts that we share the passing of our beloved daughter, sister, granddaughter, niece, and cousin, Brianna Aguilera,” the GoFundMe description reads. The family also mentioned, “On Friday, November 28, 2025, Brianna attended the UT vs. Texas A&M tailgate with friends in Austin. The details surrounding what happened next remain unclear, and her mother is still awaiting answers.”
As of now, the GoFundMe has raised over $23,800, surpassing its initial goal of $12,000. Organizer Amabelii Fernandez expressed gratitude in a comment, stating, “We have reached our goal; Brianna will be home with all her loved ones soon.” She added that donations will remain open to help the family during this difficult time. Aguilera’s mother, Stephanie Rodriguez, conveyed her appreciation for the support, noting how the kindness shown has provided some comfort amid grief.
“The unexpected loss of my brie brie has been a tremendous challenge, but I find strength in the outpouring of kindness,” Rodriguez shared, reflecting on her pain. “I’ve experienced every parent’s worst fear, but I’m comforted by the knowledge that my brie brie touched so many hearts.” She expressed her commitment to notify the community regarding Aguillera’s memorial services, highlighting the love and memories shared.
