Television Academy Welcomes Property Masters for Their First Participation
The Television Academy has introduced a new subgroup for Property Masters within its Directors Peer Group, recognizing those who have enhanced storytelling through their craftsmanship. This initiative marks the first opportunity for qualified Property Masters to attain either active (voting) or associate membership in the Academy.
The membership committee, led by Jo DiSante, collaborated with the Property Masters Guild to establish criteria for including members who significantly influence the productions they contribute to. With 31 peer groups representing varied specializations in the television industry, this development underscores the growing recognition of Property Masters’ pivotal roles.
To qualify for membership, applicants must meet several criteria: they must have worked for at least two years within the past four years with screen credits as a property master or assistant property master, contributed to a minimum of 15 episodes of scripted drama, comedy, or sketch series, or have credits on five long-form programs, defined as television movies or specials lasting one and a half hours or longer.
“Property Masters are industry professionals who make significant contributions to television production,” DiSante stated. “We are thrilled to be able to welcome them into the Television Academy.”
Though applications are accepted year-round, the deadline to apply for voting eligibility for both rounds of the 78th Emmy Awards competition is April 7, 2026. Membership requirements and the application can be found on the Academy’s official website.
