Taylor Tomlinson Announces Her Fourth Comedy Special on Netflix: Prodigal Daughter
Comedian Taylor Tomlinson to Premiere New Netflix Special, Prodigal Daughter
Comedian Taylor Tomlinson has finalized a deal for her latest Netflix special, Prodigal Daughter, set to debut on February 24. This marks Tomlinson’s fourth special with the streaming service, following the successful releases of Quarter-Life Crisis in 2020, Look At You in 2022, and the forthcoming Have It All, which reached the #1 spot on Netflix upon its release.
Prodigal Daughter is characterized as an insightful hour that delves into themes such as deconstructing faith, processing religious trauma, exploring sexuality, and confronting mortality. The special was filmed at Fountain Street Church in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Notably, Tomlinson not only performs and writes for the special but also takes on directing responsibilities, serving as an executive producer alongside Judi Marmel, Rachel Warden, and John Bravakis. At just 32 years old, her achievement of four specials on Netflix highlights her rapid ascent in the comedy landscape.
Tomlinson began her career in comedy at a young age, gaining visibility through stand-up performances in churches and clubs during her teenage years. Her rise included notable appearances on Conan, The Comedy Lineup on Netflix, and various late-night shows. She has also made headlines as the host of After Midnight, distinguishing herself as one of the few women to lead a network late-night show and the youngest host in the format by about two decades during its run from 2024 to 2025.
In 2023, Tomlinson headlined the seventh-highest-grossing comedy tour globally, uniquely positioning herself as the only woman in the Top 10. She is represented by UTA and Levity Entertainment Group.
