Taylor Swift’s appearances at Arrowhead Stadium, home of the Kansas City Chiefs, are notably infrequent due to the team’s desire to respect her relationship with tight end Travis Kelce, according to Chiefs President Mark Donovan. During a recent interview on "Up and Adams," Donovan emphasized the organization’s commitment to treating their players’ personal lives with dignity.
“My job early on in this was—and I told Travis this—we’re going to treat you and your relationship with the same respect that we treat any other player in the country’s relationship,” Donovan explained. He further stressed the importance of not capitalizing on the relationship, stating, “It’s a relationship. Like, we’re not going to monetize it. We’re not going to go out there and go crazy.”
Donovan noted that despite the heightened media attention surrounding Swift, the Chiefs have refrained from featuring her on the stadium’s jumbotron. “All those shots you see of Taylor in the stadium—he scores a touchdown, he makes a catch, [the TV cameras] go to Taylor, especially the first year—we never showed Taylor on our big boards in our stadium,” he said. “It was respectful. It’s like, we’re not going to do that. We’re not taking advantage of this relationship.”
Even with the team’s discretion, Swift continues to attract significant attention whenever she visits the stadium. Donovan acknowledged the pop star’s positive impact on Kansas City, noting, “Taylor’s been amazing to us. It’s been nothing but good. She is a phenomenon. But she is just a special, kind person.”
