Taylor Richardson and Alex MacNicoll to Lead in Lindsay Grossman’s Short Film ‘Change The Prophecy’
Taylor Richardson and Alex MacNicoll to Star in New Short Film ‘Change the Prophecy’
Taylor Richardson, known for her role in The Gilded Age, and Alex MacNicoll from The Society will headline the upcoming short film Change the Prophecy. The film is crafted by Lindsay Grossman, a co-founder of Love List, who serves as both writer and director.
This project is a television proof-of-concept inspired by Grossman’s original short story sharing the same title. It is being produced by Madison Jones, also a co-founder of Love List, along with Geneva Willis.
In Change the Prophecy, Richardson portrays Sarah Rowe, a teenager in a society where the government assigns soulmates at age eighteen. Sarah grapples with the reality of not being matched, effectively labeling her a social outcast. In an act of desperation, she hacks into the matching list and claims someone else’s soulmate, disrupting the relationship of the school’s most popular boy, Tony Emerson, played by MacNicoll.
Grossman elaborated on the film’s themes, stating, “Change the Prophecy showcases the world of love and dating through the lens of a speculative world where the idea of choosing one’s destiny is both antiquated and forbidden. It’s a swoony, angsty love letter to dystopian YA literature and to the teen dramas of the late 90s/early aughts.”
Production for Change the Prophecy is set to commence in June. Jamie Ember has been appointed as the project’s casting director.
The key players in the production are represented by notable agencies: Grossman by Krista Sipp at Heroes & Villains; Richardson by Paradigm; MacNicoll through Gersh, Joanne Horowitz Management, and Stone Genow; and Willis by Christine Coggins at Heroes & Villains.
