Taylor Frankie Paul Stays Calm During ‘Bachelorette’ Date, According to Suitor Casey Hux
In a recent episode of the “Bachelor Happy Hour” podcast, Casey Hux, a contestant from the 22nd season of *The Bachelorette*, addressed speculation that fellow contestant Taylor Frankie Paul abruptly left their date during filming. Hux responded to cohost Charity Lawson’s inquiry about the rumors, stating, “Yeah, I’ll deny and tease a little bit.”
While Hux did not specify the origins of these rumors, he referenced a previous report from TMZ that alleged Taylor, 31, “stormed off the set” after he inquired about her 2023 domestic violence arrest, which led to charges of aggravated assault and related offenses. Taylor pleaded guilty to felony aggravated assault, resulting in other charges being dropped.
Recalling their date, Hux emphasized that they discussed the incident in detail, saying, “She brought up what happened and went into it in very intensive detail, just like with the incident with her kid.”

Hux mentioned that Taylor had previously disclosed details about her past experiences when they met, highlighting her approach to sensitive topics. He described her demeanor as “super cool, calm and collected,” denying any claims of anger or distress during their interactions. “There was no storming off,” he asserted. “There was no anger. There was sadness.”
He acknowledged the emotional weight of their conversations, revealing, “If it was me, I would be beating myself up over that every day.” Hux also noted Taylor’s commitment to change, stating, “Yeah, it was the worst day of my life, and I did something about it. I gave up drinking after that.” He expressed his appreciation for her accountability, valuing their candid discussions that offered insight beyond media portrayals.
In March, ABC announced the cancellation of Taylor’s season of *The Bachelorette*, following new allegations concerning another domestic dispute involving Taylor and her ex-boyfriend, Dakota Mortensen. A spokesperson for Disney Entertainment Television stated, “In light of the newly released video just surfaced today, we have made the decision to not move forward with the new season of *The Bachelorette* at this time, and our focus is on supporting the family.”
After the cancellation was announced, Taylor released a statement through her representative, expressing gratitude for the network’s support as she prioritizes the safety of her family. Her representative highlighted Taylor’s journey, stating, “After years of silently suffering extensive mental and physical abuse as well as threats of retaliation, Taylor is finally gaining the strength to face her accuser and taking steps to ensure that she and her children are protected from any further harm.”
They also emphasized the broader issue of domestic violence, noting that many women face similar challenges in silence. For those experiencing domestic violence, support resources are available.
