In Utah, a probation violation for aggravated assault could result in revocation of probation and a potential five-year prison sentence for a third-degree felony. Judges may impose additional penalties, such as extended incarceration, stricter restrictions, and monetary fines, especially in cases of repeated violations.
Disney is currently navigating its options concerning Taylor Frankie Paul’s situation. Should ABC’s The Bachelorette not air on either the network or Hulu, it could cost the company tens of millions. Production for Hulu’s Mormon Wives has been paused, with the company remaining silent on the latest developments.
The earlier 2023 incident between Paul and Mortensen was captured on film and featured in the first episode of Mormon Wives. Paul entered a guilty plea for one count of aggravated assault related to the brawl, which placed her under ongoing probation.
The Bachelorette was put on hold by ABC on March 19, just days before its scheduled premiere on March 22, following the release of a video in which Paul was seen throwing metal stools at Mortensen and unintentionally striking one of her children.
Draper City Police are currently investigating the domestic violence incident from February.
NBC News was the first to report on the 2024 incident involving Paul and Mortensen.
