Sydney Sweeney and Amanda Seyfried captivated attendees at the New York City premiere of The Housemaid on December 2. The event, held on Seventh Avenue, showcased their stunning looks as the stars embraced the holiday spirit. They were joined on the red carpet by co-stars Michele Morrone and Brandon Sklenar.
Sweeney, 28, wowed the crowd in a sparkling silver custom Miu Miu gown, accentuated by a feathered boa. Her old Hollywood glamour was further enhanced by long, curled hair extensions. Meanwhile, Seyfried, 40, opted for a striking pink gown by Versace designed by Dario Vitale, complemented by bold, chunky jewelry and similarly styled long, curled hair.
In The Housemaid, Sweeney portrays Millie, who begins working for a wealthy family, only to uncover unsettling secrets beneath their seemingly perfect facade. Based on the novel by Freida McFadden, the film will be released in theaters on December 19, with Seyfried playing the role of Nina, Millie’s employer.
During the red carpet event, Sweeney emphasized the importance of understanding the complexities of the characters she portrays. “It’s complex, but that’s where you find the vulnerability in that person,” she told Variety. Sweeney noted that Millie engages in “morally questionable” actions throughout the film, complicating her character’s journey.
The actress also praised her on-set relationship with Seyfried, stating, “Amanda and I became sisters. She was the best friend ever. We have so much fun together, and I think that when you have a scene partner and actor that you enjoy working with, it enhances those kinds of scenes.”
As excitement builds for the film’s release, the cast and crew have hinted that the adaptation surpasses the original book. Sweeney acknowledged that drawing inspiration from McFadden’s work has been beneficial in shaping her character and the film’s world. “It’s cool because I get more facts,” she explained. “I’m getting to draw more inspiration from different sources, like the book.”
Following the premiere, the Housemaid cast took the stage for a film screening, celebrating their work with cake and a light-hearted moment where Seyfried received a giant knife for a cake-cutting ceremony.
The Housemaid is set to arrive in theaters later this month, promising a thrilling cinematic experience.
