Suspects in Burglary Chase Crash into Innocent Driver in Hyde Park
High-Speed Police Chase Follows Warehouse Burglary in South Los Angeles
LOS ANGELES – A chaotic police chase stemming from a burglary unfolded in South Los Angeles early Wednesday morning, involving two vehicles and resulting in a violent collision. The incident began around 4:40 a.m. at a distribution warehouse on E 32nd Street, where suspected thieves were reportedly loading a U-Haul with items including cannabis-related gummies and vape pens.
According to authorities, three suspects initially jumped from the moving U-Haul and later switched to a black Lexus at a nearby Randy’s Donuts. The pursuit escalated when the driver of the Lexus allegedly rammed into a Los Angeles Police Department SUV, leading to charges of assault with a deadly weapon against the officer.
The Lexus, traveling without headlights, reached speeds of up to 120 mph, disregarding several traffic signals. The high-speed chase ended in a collision at the intersection of 48th and Arlington, involving an innocent driver. This prompted all suspects to exit the vehicle and flee on foot into the surrounding neighborhood. A nearby aerial surveillance unit captured images of the suspects evading capture by jumping fences.
During the incident, one individual was detained but was subsequently released after being determined not to be involved in the burglary.
While the primary suspects remain at large, the authorities continue to investigate the burglary and the assault on the officer. The condition of the innocent driver involved in the crash is presently unknown, as an ambulance was dispatched to the scene for treatment.
As of now, the exact number of suspects is still unclear, and it remains uncertain whether they are armed. The search for the remaining individuals involved in this morning’s events is ongoing.
