Shooting Incident at Santa Monica Pier: One Injured, Suspect Arrested
Santa Monica police have arrested an 18-year-old man following a shooting incident at the Santa Monica Pier on Sunday night. The altercation, which involved multiple individuals, resulted in one person being injured.
Officers responded to reports of the shooting around 9 p.m. after a significant fight broke out at the pier. According to police, one victim was shot in the arm and subsequently transported to a local hospital for treatment. Another individual, who sustained a graze wound, has been identified as the alleged shooter.
The suspect, Jaysawn Williams of Rialto, received medical attention before being booked at the Santa Monica Jail. He faces charges of assault with a firearm and grossly negligent discharge of a firearm.
The rapid response from the Santa Monica Police Department was facilitated by their regular patrols in the area, allowing them to address the situation promptly. Following the incident, the Santa Monica Pier reopened and resumed normal operations.
