Students Report Threat During Santa Clarita Anti-ICE Protest
Man Allegedly Threatens Students During Anti-ICE Protest
LOS ANGELES – Tensions escalated during an anti-ICE protest on Tuesday afternoon as a man allegedly threatened to shoot students near Saugus High School.
Video footage captures students fleeing from a black truck that approached them while they were protesting at Central Park. Eyewitnesses reported that the driver made threatening remarks towards the students gathered for the demonstration.
Rebecca Hindman, a witness and organizer of the social media group "Rise Up SCV," was stopped at a nearby traffic light when she encountered the situation. "That’s when I found out there was a young man in a red sweatshirt who is a senior at Saugus and that the gentleman in the car had threatened to shoot him in the face," Hindman told FOX 11.
Although no gun was visible in the videos, the students maintained that the man’s threats were serious. After initially running from the vehicle, they later returned to confront the driver. Hindman expressed her shock at the incident, stating, "I’m like what are you doing, why are you doing this, you shouldn’t be threatening children. That’s not okay."
She noted the impact of such threats, particularly near a school that faced a deadly mass shooting on November 14, 2019. "From the videos I’ve seen, something was definitely used to threaten him… the initial reaction of the students was definitely fear," she added.
The Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department has confirmed that no firearm was found during their investigation. According to their statement, deputies canvassed the area but were unable to locate the suspect. "The Deputies contacted the involved parties at the scene, and the incident was documented. Investigators are continuing to pursue leads and are contacting additional witnesses as part of the ongoing investigation," the statement read.
This incident has raised considerable concern among the local community, highlighting fears related to safety and violence in school environments.
