“It is both informationally satisfying, but most importantly, profoundly emotionally satisfying,” Levy said further. He previously referred to the finale as “a finale that’s as good as any TV series finale I’ve seen in my life,” during a red carpet event at the Los Angeles premiere of season 5.
The final episode has earned praise from cast members as well, with David Harbour, who plays Jim Hopper, labeling it the “best episode” they’ve ever done. He described emotional moments during the last table read, stating, “about halfway through, people started crying… then, about the last 20 minutes, it was just uncontrollably crying.” He highlighted fellow cast member Noah Schnapp as particularly moved that day.
This sentiment was echoed by Charlie Heaton, who noted the emotional reactions during the reading, where Schnapp and Finn Wolfhard also shed tears, setting off a chain reaction among the cast.
Wolfhard further remarked on the emotional atmosphere during the table read, recalling his initial intention to remain composed, only to find himself overwhelmed with emotion halfway through the script.
