Freshman Sensation: Mia Rizo Shines for St. Genevieve Soccer Team
In the competitive landscape of high school soccer, freshman Mia Rizo of St. Genevieve has made a significant impact, solidifying her reputation as one of the top players in her age group. With an impressive tally of 19 goals and six assists this season, Rizo has earned widespread recognition for her contributions on the field.
“Mia is a crafty midfielder with great vision,” said her coach, Marlon Archey. “She has a nose for the goal that is remarkable for a freshman playing at the varsity level.”
Rizo’s accomplishments extend beyond her high school team; she has participated in the U.S. Soccer Talent Camp, highlighting her potential as she continues to rise in the ranks of young players. Currently, St. Genevieve holds an overall record of 13-3-3 and stands at 4-2-3 in the Del Rey League. The team is set to face Paraclete on Tuesday, with hopes of securing second place in the league.
“Mia has an impeccable soccer IQ at such a young age,” added Archey. “She’s a coach’s dream.”
As high school sports continue to flourish, Rizo’s achievements stand out, showcasing the talent and dedication present at the youth level.
