The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants Set to Stream on Paramount+
February 16, 2023 — Paramount+ has announced that The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants will begin streaming on the platform tomorrow, February 17.
This marks the fourth theatrical release featuring the beloved children’s cartoon character, SpongeBob SquarePants. In this installment, SpongeBob and his friends from Bikini Bottom embark on what is touted as their “biggest, yellow-est, most side-splittingly hilarious, all-new, can’t miss cinematic event ever.”
Initially, the film will be accessible to viewers in the U.S. and Canada, with plans for a broader international release on Paramount+ to be revealed in the future.
The film’s synopsis reveals SpongeBob’s quest to demonstrate his courage to Mr. Krabs. He sets off on an adventure to follow The Flying Dutchman, a ghost pirate, diving into comedic escapades deep beneath the sea on a journey that tests his bravery like never before.
Directed by series veteran Derek Drymon, Search For SquarePants features the regular voice cast including Tom Kenny, Clancy Brown, Rodger Bumpass, Bill Fagerbakke, Carolyn Lawrence, and Mr. Lawrence. The movie also includes a talented supporting voice cast featuring George Lopez, Isis “Ice Spice” Gaston, Arturo Castro, and Sherry Cola, along with Regina Hall and Mark Hamill.
The SpongeBob Movie: Search For SquarePants is produced by Paramount Animation and Nickelodeon Movies, drawing inspiration from the iconic series created by Stephen Hillenburg. The film’s story is developed by Marc Ceccarelli and Kaz and Pam Brady, with the screenplay written by Pam Brady and Matt Lieberman. Producers include Lisa Stewart, Pam Brady, and Aaron Dem, with executive production credits going to Ceccarelli, Vincent Waller, Pete Chiappetta, Anthony Tittanegro, and Andrew Lary.
