Sparta Shares Exciting News About New Album Featuring “Crater” Co-Written with Frank Iero from MCR: Listen Now
Sparta Announces New Album, "Cut a Silhouette," and Releases Single "Crater"
Sparta has revealed details of their upcoming album, Cut a Silhouette, slated for release on May 29 through Equal Vision and Dine Alone Records. The band has also shared the single “Crater,” co-written with My Chemical Romance’s Frank Iero.
The track combines emotional post-hardcore elements with a progressive, atmospheric backdrop, creating a sound that feels grand despite its sub-three-minute length. This approach resonates with the compact maximalism reminiscent of frontman Jim Ward’s previous band, At the Drive-In.
Cut a Silhouette marks Sparta’s sixth studio album, following Trust the River in 2020 and their self-titled release in 2022, part of their most recent series of work since reuniting in 2017.
In a statement about the new album, Ward expressed, “This is a love record. I want it to leave an impression, and at this point in my career, that’s what I yearn for. I’m working so hard to make something meaningful to me, and I really want people to get a chance to feel it as well.”
The album will include two tracks co-written by Iero and features contributions from various artists, including Kemble Walters, Adrian Borgeois, J. Robbins, Brooks Harlan of Jawbox, and Carlos Arévalo of Chicano Batman. J. Robbins also took on the production responsibilities for the record.
In support of the album, Sparta will embark on a tour that includes a June stint in the U.S. supporting Toadies, a headlining Latin American tour in August, and several dates supporting Jimmy Eat World during their Bleed American 25th anniversary tour in September.
