Sophie Wilde of ‘Talk To Me’ and ‘Babygirl’ Takes on Sci-Fi Role in ‘Soon You Will Be Gone And Possibly Eaten’; Anton Launches at EFM
Sophie Wilde to Star in Upcoming Sci-Fi Thriller
Sophie Wilde, known for her roles in Talk To Me and Babygirl, is set to headline the sci-fi thriller Soon You Will Be Gone And Possibly Eaten. The film is being launched by Anton ahead of next week’s European Film Market.
Egor Abramenko, celebrated for directing A24’s Altar and the Russian sci-fi film Sputnik, will take the helm of this project. The screenplay is penned by Luke Piotrowski and Ben Collins, the duo recognized for their work on Hulu’s Hellraiser and Searchlight’s The Night House.
The screenplay is adapted from a short story by Nick Antosca, who serves as the creator and showrunner for Apple TV’s upcoming series Cape Fear, featuring Javier Bardem and Amy Adams.
The narrative centers around Rob and Sabile, a young couple who retreat to a remote mountain resort for their wedding. What is intended to be a joyous celebration takes an unexpected turn when uninvited guests disrupt the ceremony. Additional casting is currently underway.
Anton is financing the film and managing global rights, while domestic sales are being handled in collaboration with Anonymous Content and WME Independent. Production is slated to begin this spring.
Wilde has rapidly gained recognition as a key talent, particularly with her performances in A24’s hits. She was nominated for the BAFTA Rising Star award and is currently involved in post-production for the studio’s horror project by Arkasha Stevenson, along with Jeremy Saulnier’s October. Later this year, audiences can expect to see her in Alejandro G. Iñárritu and Warner Bros’ Digger. Her prior television credits include Boy Swallows Universe, Everything Now, and Tom Jones.
The film’s production team includes Sébastien Raybaud of Anton, Nick Antosca and Alex Hedlund from Eat the Cat, along with Greg Gilreath and Adam Hendricks of Divide/Conquer. Executive producers from Anonymous Content include David Levine and Garrett Kemble.
Masha Slavina, who previously worked with Abramenko on Altar and Sputnik, is responsible for production design, and alien design is handled by Monkey Rave.
Abramenko expressed enthusiasm for the project, stating, “I was blown away by Nick Antosca’s short story. From the get-go, it was a very fresh take on the alien genre, which is a really rare thing.”
Wilde is represented by B-Side Management, CAA, and Independent Management Company, while Abramenko is represented by UTA and XYZ Films.
