Sofia D’Angelo’s ‘Time’ Tops This Week’s Favorite New Music Picks
Trending on Billboard
Sofia D’Angelo’s new single, “Time,” has emerged as this week’s top pick in a fan-voted music poll.
Listeners participated in the poll, published on Friday, April 3, on Billboard, selecting D’Angelo’s latest solo release—separate from her group MICHELLE—as their favorite new song of the week.
“Time” prevailed over other notable new releases, including tracks from Anne Hathaway, Jack White—who performed on SNL that Saturday—and Arlo Parks. By the poll’s conclusion on Sunday, D’Angelo captured more than 69% of the votes.
The New York native and seasoned performer released “Time” alongside a nostalgic music video, filmed at a bar in Bushwick. The video features an older version of D’Angelo, who retains the energy and spirit of her early 20s.
“Every seven years or so, even Grandma needs a good time,” she playfully remarks in the video, which was directed by Steph Rinzler. D’Angelo served as the executive producer, with Anahita von Andrian-Werburg and Natalie Williams taking on production roles.
In the track, she reflects, “Just gotta work with what you got. At the end of everything/ Will I remember 23?/ If I survive I’ll know/ If time was on my side.”
Trailing behind “Time” in the poll were Anne Hathaway’s “My Mouth Is Lonely for You,” from her upcoming film Mother Mary, which garnered 16% of the vote, and Jack White’s “G.O.D. and the Broken Ribs,” with 4%.
