SNL is Coming Back in January with Finn Wolfhard and A$AP Rocky
Finn Wolfhard to Host Saturday Night Live in 2026 with A$AP Rocky as Musical Guest
Finn Wolfhard, known for his role in Stranger Things, will make his hosting debut on Saturday Night Live on January 17, 2026. This episode marks SNL’s first broadcast following the holiday break.
The announcement was made during the Christmas episode of SNL, hosted by Ariana Grande, with Cher performing as the musical guest.
Wolfhard’s appearance comes as he steps into a role that has seen him transition from a youthful actor to a prominent figure in comedy. A$AP Rocky will also be making his debut as a musical performer on the show, although he previously made a cameo during Donald Glover’s hosting in 2018.
Wolfhard’s ties to SNL run deep; he appeared in Jason Reitman’s film about the show, portraying an NBC page during the inaugural episode, which aired on October 11, 1975.
In promotional remarks about his upcoming hosting duties, Wolfhard expressed enthusiasm for revisiting a classic sketch. He mentioned the Underground Rock Festival sketch, which featured Jason Sudeikis and Nasim Pedrad. “They were hosts of this terrible metal festival, and they would do themed commercials announcing the lineup,” Wolfhard said. “I was watching that recently and I thought it was so funny because it’s just an excuse to basically name a bunch of random bands. I think that sketch would be really funny to bring back.”
As he prepares for his debut, Wolfhard is also wrapping up his role in Stranger Things, which has its final episode scheduled to air on New Year’s Eve.
