Sky Shares an Exciting First Glimpse of Matt Charman’s ‘Prisoner’ Featuring Tahar Rahim and Izuka Hoyle
Sky, the British broadcaster, has released a first look at its upcoming high-stakes action thriller, Prisoner.
Prisoner features performances from The Serpent’s Tahar Rahim and Boiling Point’s Izuka Hoyle. The series centers on a perilous manhunt where trust can prove deadly.
The narrative unfolds as Amber (Hoyle), an ethical young prison transport officer, is tasked with escorting Tibor (Rahim), a high-value inmate and trained killer, to court for testimony against his crime syndicate. Their convoy is violently ambushed, thrusting Amber into a situation where she must rely on Tibor. As the only survivors, they are handcuffed and on the run, racing against time to ensure their survival. Their uneasy partnership is continuously tested as the syndicate closes in, transforming trust into a potential weapon and presenting them with a moral dilemma as Amber must decide how far she’s willing to go to protect her own.
The supporting cast includes Eddie Marsan (Back to Black), Catherine McCormack (28 Weeks Later), Leonie Benesch (September 5), Finn Bennett (True Detective), Sam Troughton (Black Doves), Laurie Davidson (The Girlfriend), Ken Nwosu (Sticks and Stones), Brían F. O’Byrne (Conclave), and Youssef Kerkour (Lockerbie: A Search For Truth).

Created by screenwriter Charman, who received an Oscar nomination for his work on Steven Spielberg’s Bridge of Spies, the series continues his exploration of intense narratives. Charman is also known for creating Netflix’s Treason, launched in 2022, featuring stars such as Olga Kurylenko and Charlie Cox, as well as Hostage, which includes Julie Delpy.
Charman’s filmography includes notable works like the Amazon original Killer Heat, starring Joseph Gordon-Levitt and Shailene Woodley, along with Oasis, featuring Richard Madden. He also served as executive producer for Operation Finale, detailing the hunt for Adolf Eichmann.
The new series will be produced by Charman’s own production company, Binocular Productions.
