Sinners Earns 16 Nominations, Setting a New Oscar Record
Warner Bros has made history with the announcement of nominations for the 98th Academy Awards, showcasing an unprecedented achievement for the film industry.
The film Sinners has been nominated a record 16 times, breaking previous records held by iconic films. Among its nominations are categories for Best Picture, Best Actor for Michael B. Jordan, and Best Supporting Actress for Wunmi Mosaku. The film also earned nods for Best Supporting Actor (Delroy Lindo), Best Director and Original Screenplay (Ryan Coogler), as well as various technical categories including Music Score, Song ("I Lied To You"), Cinematography, and several others.

The previous record for Academy Award nominations was set at 14, held by three films: All About Eve, Titanic, and La La Land. All About Eve was the first to achieve this milestone in 1950, maintaining the record for 47 years. In 1997, Titanic matched its count, while in 2016, La La Land also garnered 14 nominations. Notably, All About Eve won six Oscars, and Titanic secured 11, both achieving Best Picture wins. La La Land, despite being mistakenly announced as Best Picture before Moonlight was revealed as the actual winner, went on to win six Oscars, yet holds the distinction of being the most nominated film without a Best Picture win.
