Sigourney Weaver Shares Her Best Tips for Young Actors

Sigourney Weaver, the celebrated actress, provided insights into her experiences during a panel at New York Comic Con. At 76, she continues to inspire the next generation of actors.
During the discussion, she addressed the new television series Alien: Earth, which represents the first foray into television for the iconic Alien franchise. Weaver offered her full approval of both the show and its cast.
Reflecting on her legacy, Weaver expressed appreciation for the young actors she met, including Sydney Chandler. “I see myself [in them], because even though the movie had no profile, it was still a big responsibility. My heart goes out to them,” she told moderator Josh Horowitz.

Weaver acknowledged the pressure that can accompany such beloved films. “Now that the movies are so beloved, I think there may even be more pressure,” she noted. She expressed her enthusiasm for collaborating with younger actors, stating, “I’m thrilled to still be working at my age because I feel I have an opportunity as an older actor to bond with the younger actors.”
“Don’t worry so much. It’s going to be fine. Just hit your mark, say the lines, go for it, and don’t think about it when you go home,” she advised aspiring performers.
Weaver also expressed confidence in the new cast of Alien: Earth, affirming, “I think the direction and everything else is just extraordinary.”
Premiering on August 12 on Hulu, Alien: Earth follows Wendy, portrayed by Sydney Chandler, a humanoid robot leading a team of soldiers after a spacecraft crash-lands on Earth. The series is set prior to Ridley Scott’s iconic 1979 film and comprises eight episodes. It also features actors Timothy Olyphant, Alex Lawther, Babou Ceesay, and Samuel Blenkin.

Weaver has previously shared her enthusiasm for Alien: Earth, stating, “What I admire about it is the scope is so much more profound than just an Alien movie. It’s about our world and what’s dominating the world in 100 years, and to me, it’s right on.”
In addition to her legendary work on the Alien franchise, Weaver is also recognized for her roles in the Ghostbusters and Avatar series. She is set to appear in an upcoming film in 2026 focused on The Mandalorian and Grogu.
