Significant Damage to Building Following Crash in Santa Monica
A driver was hospitalized following a serious crash into a building in Santa Monica, causing significant damage and debris.
The incident occurred shortly after 11 p.m. on Thursday night when the vehicle struck a business on the 2600 block of Santa Monica Boulevard, according to the Santa Monica Police Department.
The structure involved is a print shop located on the ground floor, with residential units above it. Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the family residing in the upper unit.
Witness Frank White described the chaotic moment, stating, “I heard what sounded like a car moving fast or accelerating incorrectly, then I heard a screech as the car went out of control, then I heard a crash. By the time I looked up, the car was going through the building.”
Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the crash, and it remains unclear whether drugs or alcohol played a role in the incident. The condition of the driver has not been disclosed.
