Shudder Teams Up with Mark O’Brien for His Supernatural Horror Film ‘The Voices of Our Mother’
EXCLUSIVE: The supernatural horror film The Voices of Our Mother, directed by actor Mark O’Brien, is set to make its North American debut at Panic Fest in Kansas City. The film has been acquired by Shudder and will be released for streaming in the U.S., UK, Australia, and New Zealand this summer.
The film features O’Brien alongside Sheila McCarthy (Women Talking) and Georgina Reilly (Quantum Leap). It centers on Harriet Scaflen (played by McCarthy), who faces an unexplained health crisis following her mother’s death at 95. This incident draws her four estranged children back to their family home, where their long-buried animosities come to light. As they grapple with their past, it becomes apparent that their mother’s condition may be linked to a supernatural force seeking revenge for its own survival.
O’Brien not only directed but also penned the screenplay. The project is produced by Christopher Giroux and Justin Rebelo for Vortex Productions, with Jesse Ikeman, Nataline Rodrigues, and Bill Marks serving as executive producers.
