Strong Start for Sherman Oaks Notre Dame Baseball Team
The Sherman Oaks Notre Dame baseball team is off to a remarkable start, boasting a perfect 9-0 record. Strong pitching, solid hitting, and effective fielding have contributed to the team’s success, with a notable performance this week against Chaminade.
In Wednesday’s match, Malakye Matsumoto excelled by throwing two scoreless innings in relief while contributing three hits and four RBIs to Notre Dame’s commanding 11-0 victory. The Knights now stand at 4-0 in Mission League play, showcasing their dominance on the field. Dru Wilson hit a home run and drove in two RBIs, while Troy Trejo also contributed with two RBIs.
In other league action, Corona defeated King 8-3, with Anthony Murphy hitting for the cycle, which includes a home run, triple, double, and single.
Norco triumphed over Corona Centennial with a score of 12-4, where Dylan Seward led the charge with three hits. Zion Martinez supported the effort with three hits and four RBIs.
Corona Santiago claimed a 9-4 victory against Roosevelt, powered by Striker Pence, who recorded eight strikeouts without allowing a hit in four innings pitched.
Sierra Canyon also had a strong showing, defeating Crespi 14-3, thanks to Bryaden Goldstein and Cody Gallegos, each contributing two hits and three RBIs.
In a dominant performance, Loyola shut out St. Francis 11-0, led by Robert Rapp’s three hits and five RBIs. Meanwhile, Harvard-Westlake rebounded from its first Mission League loss with a decisive 17-0 victory over Bishop Alemany, which included home runs from James Tronstein and Jake Kim. Ethan Alexander held the opposition to just one hit over 5 1/3 innings.
In the Marine League, Carson edged out San Pedro 3-1 with Sal Carrillo earning a save. Banning secured a tight 4-3 win against Narbonne, with Santiago Meza delivering the game-winning single in the ninth inning, and AJ Herrera throwing a complete game.
Other notable results include El Camino Real’s 5-0 win over Taft, fueled by Jackson Sellz’s ten strikeouts, and Cleveland’s 10-4 triumph against Granada Hills, where Joshua Pearlstein and Elliot Schoenwald each had three hits.
Birmingham defeated Chatsworth 9-3, with Julius Monroe-Truitt showcasing an impressive performance, securing three hits. Bell overwhelmed Huntington Park 12-0, led by Vincent Rubio’s three hits and four RBIs, while Jayden Rojas struck out six in three innings.
