Sheriff Confirms Phoenix Body Is Not Linked to Nancy Guthrie’s Case
Authorities in Arizona have confirmed that a body discovered along a canal in Phoenix is not linked to the ongoing investigation into the disappearance of Nancy Guthrie.
On March 8, the Pima County Sheriff’s Office responded to speculation connecting the two cases, stating to TMZ, “We have not been notified of any connection reference that case to the Nancy Guthrie case.” The body was found a few days prior, adding to the community’s concern as Guthrie’s family continues to search for her.
Nancy Guthrie, 84, was reported missing on February 1 after a family member called 911 to alert authorities. Last seen the previous night while dining with her daughter, Annie, Nancy’s home in Tucson is located over 100 miles from Phoenix.
Since her mother’s disappearance, Savannah Guthrie, 54, has been absent from her role on the Today show. Hoda Kotb has taken over hosting duties alongside Craig Melvin. However, Savannah made a brief return to the studio earlier this month to thank her colleagues. A spokesperson for the show remarked on March 5, “While she plans to return to the show on air, she remains focused right now supporting her family and working to help bring Nancy home.”

The day after her visit, Melvin shared with Today viewers that Savannah expressed a message of “faith and resilience” during her appearance in the studio. “I wanted you to know that I’m still standing, and I still have hope, and I’m still me,” she said. “I don’t know what version of me that will be, but it will be.”
In her emotional address to around 100 cast and crew members, Savannah expressed profound gratitude, stating that the Today team “cares about my mom as much as I do.”
“I’m holding on to my faith,” Savannah continued. “I still believe, and as my mom would say, ‘Where else would I go?’” As the search for Nancy continues, the reward for her return has been increased to $1 million. The FBI is also offering a $100,000 reward for credible information that may assist in locating her.
Pima County Sheriff Chris Nanos remarked in a recent interview on the Today show that officers are “definitely closer” to identifying potential suspects in Nancy’s case. Authorities continue their efforts to resolve this distressing situation for the Guthrie family.
