Seriencamp Plans for 2026: How the German TV Conference Will Highlight Industry Changes
Seriencamp Prepares for 2026 Edition in Cologne
Germany’s Seriencamp is set to return for its 2026 edition, scheduled from June 9 to 11 in Cologne. The industry-focused conference will coincide with the public Seriencamp Festival, which will feature the world premiere of Westend Girl, starring Golden Globe nominee Helena Zengel.
Organizers have noted a significant transformation within the industry, aiming to tailor this year’s twelfth edition to address both the challenges and opportunities in the evolving drama landscape.
“Good stories will always find their audience – but how they are told, produced, distributed, and, above all, discovered is currently changing rapidly,” stated Gerhard Maier, Artistic Director at Seriencamp.
Maier emphasized that the future of the series industry will not only be shaped by new and contemporary content but also by a willingness to explore innovative approaches in content development, production, and distribution. He highlighted the importance of investigating technological advancements and questioning traditional norms. Over three days, the Seriencamp conference will delve into these themes as they pertain to creatives, broadcasters, and producers.
Drama producers are navigating a challenging environment in the European scripted TV sector. The presence of funders and commissioners is considered a vital opportunity for program-makers. Confirmed attendees include representatives from organizations such as ZDF, WDR, SWR, ARD DEGETO, ORF, SRG, RAI, NRK, SVT, and DR. ZDF Studios returns as the event’s main partner.
In addition to the confirmed “Meet the Commissioners” segment, the conference will feature popular pitching sessions. A new segment, PLOT NXT, will run from June 11 to 12, focusing on practical applications of artificial intelligence in the television industry. On the eve of the conference, regional funders, Film- und Medienstiftung NRW, and the Film- und Medienverband NRW, along with the producer group Produktionsallianz, will host an event titled Story Vision Europe, which is open to Seriencamp badge holders.
Since 2023, the primary funding partners for the event have been the State of North Rhine-Westphalia and the Film- und Medienstiftung NRW.
