Police Search for Suspect in Sylmar Stabbing
SYLMAR, Calif. – Authorities are engaged in an extensive manhunt for a man accused of fatally stabbing his 35-year-old girlfriend Wednesday night.
The Los Angeles Police Department (LAPD) responded to reports of a stabbing around 9:21 p.m. near Beaver Street and Dronfield Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered the victim suffering from multiple stab wounds. She was quickly transported to a local hospital, where she later succumbed to her injuries.
Witnesses at the scene identified the assailant as the victim’s boyfriend, who fled immediately after the incident. In response to the ongoing situation, a large containment area has been established near Gridley Street Elementary School.
Due to the police activity, students at the adjacent Gridley-Montanez Dual Language Academy will be temporarily relocated to Macaulay Middle School, according to a statement from the Los Angeles Unified School District. School officials have assured parents that they are in ongoing communication with local authorities, providing updates as they become available.
As of now, the identity of the suspect remains undisclosed, and police have not confirmed whether he is armed. The investigation is ongoing, with police continuing to clear areas within the perimeter established at Hubbard and Eighth Street.
