Sasha Pieterse from ‘Pretty Little Liars’ Teams Up with Sherrilyn Kenyon for New Production Company and Exciting Book Adaptation
Sasha Pieterse Launches Production Label with Adaptation of Sherrilyn Kenyon’s Upcoming Novel Series
Sasha Pieterse, renowned for her role in Pretty Little Liars, is establishing her own production company, Mother Bare Productions. The first project under this label will be a film adaptation of acclaimed novelist Sherrilyn Kenyon’s latest urban fantasy series, Infernal Affairs, in which Pieterse will both produce and star.
Kenyon, a prolific author with over 70 million books sold, is celebrated for her work within the fantasy genre, including the Dark Hunter and Chronicles of Nick series. The Infernal Affairs series, set to launch with its first installment, Hell To Pay, later this month, is anticipated to expand with a second book, Hell’s Half Acre, slated for June, and a third title planned for the future.
The narrative centers on Lucian “Luke” Teivel, the son of Lucifer, who is exiled to Earth to join a covert task force addressing supernatural crimes. Partnered with Detective Sorcha O’Malley, played by Pieterse, the duo uncovers a conspiracy that threatens to ignite a war between Heaven and Hell, all while navigating the complexities of a growing attraction.
The screenplay adaptation will be crafted by Cory Todd Hughes and Adrian Speckert, known for their work on Under Fire and Foster. Their production company, So It Goes Entertainment, will collaborate with Mother Bare Productions on the film, which aims to lay the groundwork for a broader franchise rooted in Kenyon’s intricate mythology.
Pieterse is particularly recognized for her performance as Alison DiLaurentis in Pretty Little Liars and its spinoff, Pretty Little Liars: The Perfectionists. Recently, she starred in the 2024 film The Image Of You alongside Parker Young and Mira Sorvino.
Reflecting on her role as Sorcha, Pieterse expressed, “When I first read Hell To Pay, what stopped me wasn’t the mythology or the world-building, though both are extraordinary. It was Sorcha. Here is a woman who has been quietly exiled to the margins of her own career… She holds her ground with wit and composure while her entire understanding of the world is being rewritten around her.”
She emphasized the importance of resilience in her character, stating, “That resilience — quiet, unshowy, earned, is what makes her so compelling to me… That’s the story I want to tell with Mother Bare Productions. Stories about women who are already whole, who grow not because they were broken, but because they were brave enough to keep going.”
Hughes and Speckert also shared their enthusiasm, noting in a joint statement, “We’re incredibly excited to partner with Sasha and bring Sherrilyn’s new series to life. She’s created an expansive, emotionally rich world, and our goal is to translate that into something cinematic, epic, romantic, and deeply engaging for both longtime fans of Sherrilyn’s and new audiences.”
Kenyon herself expressed her excitement, saying, “I couldn’t be more excited or honored. I’ve been a huge fan of Sasha’s for years. She’s such a tremendous talent… I can’t think of anyone better to play Sorcha than Sasha. This series couldn’t be in better hands, and I know my fans will be thrilled.”
Pieterse is represented by 3 Arts Entertainment and Yorn, Levine. Hughes and Speckert are represented by IAG, Anvil Entertainment, and Miloknay Weiner, while Kenyon is represented by attorney Maggie Marr.
