Santa Monica High School Goes on Lockdown Following Shooting Threats
Investigation Underway After Threats Lead to Lockdown at Santa Monica High School
Santa Monica Police are investigating multiple threats made regarding a potential shooting at Santa Monica High School. The unsettling series of calls began around 11:10 a.m., prompting immediate action from law enforcement.
In response to the threats, officers quickly arrived at the school and implemented a lockdown, requiring students and staff to shelter in place. Following a thorough search of the campus, authorities determined that the threats were unfounded and lifted the shelter-in-place order by approximately 11:54 a.m.
As normal operations resumed, police indicated that officers would maintain a visible presence on campus to provide support and ensure safety. A joint statement from Santa Monica police and the Santa Monica-Malibu Unified School District emphasized the seriousness of threats related to schools, asserting that those responsible for making false or threatening reports will be held accountable. Fortunately, no injuries were reported during the incident.
