Santa Ana Woman Safely Escapes Kidnapping Attempt Near Her Workplace, Say Police
Santa Ana Police Investigating Attempted Kidnapping
An Orange County woman reportedly fought off an attempted kidnapping outside her workplace in Santa Ana on Tuesday morning. The woman described how a man tried to force her into a van, but she managed to escape.
Following the incident, she called her brother, Harry, in a panic. "She called me just screaming on the phone, and I couldn’t make out anything she was saying. I was asking, ‘Where are you? What are you doing? What’s wrong?’ and the only words I could get out of her were, ‘He grabbed me,’" Harry recounted. Surveillance footage captured her running across the parking lot moments after the confrontation.
Harry explained the aftermath of the ordeal: "She was just a mess. She was screaming, she was all scratched up. Her arm has probably doubled in size now. He must have really grabbed her hard." He also suggested that the suspect might have been familiar with her routine, leading to the planned attack. "She’s not doing great, as you can imagine. She’s terrified. She’s staying at home for a little while," he added.
The Santa Ana Police Department is actively investigating the attempted kidnapping. Officer Natalie Garcia confirmed that detectives are focusing on the suspect, who reportedly fled in a dark blue van with white lettering. "As of right now, we think there’s only one person that was involved," she stated.
Authorities encourage anyone with information regarding the incident to reach out to the Santa Ana Police Department.
