Sabrina Carpenter and Seth Rogen Share Exciting Teaser for Potential ‘The Muppet Show’ Reboot Series
First Look at Sabrina Carpenter and Seth Rogen in Upcoming Muppet Show Special
A new teaser has unveiled guest star Sabrina Carpenter alongside executive producer Seth Rogen in a forthcoming special of The Muppet Show, marking a reboot of the beloved classic. Originally set to debut as a Disney+ event, the special will now air on both ABC and Disney on February 4, coinciding with the 50th anniversary of the original series.
Kermit the Frog expressed his excitement in the teaser, stating, “It’s the return of The Muppet Show back on the very stage where it all started, and then ended, and is maybe starting again, depending on how the night goes.”
The special features Kermit, Miss Piggy, and an array of beloved Muppet characters, promising a vibrant blend of music, comedy, and classic chaos as they take the stage once again, with Carpenter as their special guest.
Carpenter, who has long admired the Muppets, previously embraced her love for the characters by channeling Miss Piggy at the VMAs in September. In the teaser, audiences can catch a glimpse of her sharing a scene—and a dance—with the iconic Muppet.
Rogen, in a moment of comic relief, interacts with Fonzie. “It’s always been a dream of mine to be here,” Rogen remarks, to which Fonzie humorously responds, “Got any other dreams?”
Produced by 20th Television, Disney Branded Television, The Muppets Studio, and Point Grey Pictures, the special is directed by Alex Timbers, who also serves as executive producer. Other executive producers include Rogen, Goldberg, James Weaver, Alex McAtee from Point Grey Pictures, and David Lightbody, Leigh Slaughter, and Michael Steinbach from The Muppets Studio, alongside Carpenter, Albertina Rizzo, Matt Vogel, and Eric Jacobson.
The special features veteran Muppet performers including Bill Barretta, Dave Goelz, Eric Jacobson, Peter Linz, David Rudman, and Matt Vogel, who bring many of the iconic Muppet characters to life. Goelz, a performer for over 50 years, originally created characters such as Gonzo and Dr. Bunsen Honeydew.
Created by Jim Henson, The Muppet Show aired from 1976 to 1981, reaching audiences in over 100 countries and featuring a myriad of notable guest stars, including Elton John, Johnny Cash, Diana Ross, and Liza Minelli. All five seasons of the original run are currently available for streaming on Disney+.
