Ryan Bergara and Kevin Kreider Team Up for Trüebadour; Jennifer Zhang’s Film to Premiere at Cannes Market
Ryan Bergara and Kevin Kreider to Star in Cannes-Bound Film ‘Trüebadour’
Ryan Bergara, known for BuzzFeed Unsolved and Ghost Files, and Kevin Kreider from Bling Empire and The Traitors, are set to star in Jennifer Zhang’s upcoming feature film Trüebadour, which will be showcased at this year’s Cannes Film Festival.
Avatar Entertainment will present the film to international buyers, with initial discussions about the sci-fi horror project already underway ahead of the prestigious event. For Bergara, this film represents his first lead role in a feature film.
Trüebadour unfolds within a cutting-edge game studio, where a team tests an experimental device designed to generate stories from a user’s subconscious. However, this adventure gives way to a psychological unraveling as buried truths emerge, blurring the boundaries between fiction and reality.
The film is structured as an interconnected anthology, featuring multiple story worlds linked through a single ensemble.
Produced by Christopher Lee Bythewood, Jonathan Hsu, and Zhang, who also directs, Trüebadour is created in collaboration with Asian American media outlet NextShark. The executive producers include notable figures like Jamie Lee Curtis, Christopher Tremann, Debby Chang, and others.
Larry Robinson, President of Avatar Entertainment, remarked, “Trüebadour taps into a timely conversation around AI and authorship while delivering a high-concept genre experience. It stood out to us for its clarity of vision and its potential to connect with audiences across multiple markets.”
