Rose Byrne Talks Awards Success, Her Friendship with Seth Rogen, and Her Passion for Comedy
Rose Byrne is experiencing a remarkable year following her nomination for the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Award for Lead Female Actor in If I Had Legs I’d Kick You. This accolade is the latest in a series of honors acknowledging her powerful performance in the A24 film, which has garnered significant recognition on the critics’ awards circuit. Byrne has already secured Best Actress awards from numerous organizations, including the National Board of Review, Boston Society of Film Critics, New York Film Critics Circle, Los Angeles Film Critics Association, Toronto, Chicago, Dallas-Fort Worth, Florida, Kansas City, San Diego, and Austin, among others. She is also nominated for a Lead Actress in a Comedy or Musical award at the upcoming Golden Globe Awards and for an Indie Spirit Award. Her award season journey began last year when she won the Silver Bear for Best Actress in Berlin for the same film, which was highlighted at the previous year’s Sundance Film Festival.
In a recent discussion, Byrne reflected on how directors Judd Apatow and Nick Stoller helped her discover her comedic talents following her Emmy-nominated role in Damages. Throughout her career, she has showcased her versatility in films such as Get Him To The Greek, Bridesmaids, SPY, Neighbors, and the television series Physical. Currently, she is reuniting with her Neighbors co-star Seth Rogen for his Apple series, Platonic, which is now in its second season. Alongside her busy schedule, Byrne is set to star in the upcoming film Tow, in which she portrays a real-life homeless woman navigating the challenges of bureaucratic red tape after her car is towed.
