Rodeo FX Expands with a New Paris Studio, Joining Forces with Mikros Animation
Rodeo FX Opens New Studio in Paris, Consolidating French Operations
Rodeo FX has officially opened a new studio in Paris, unifying its various French divisions under one roof, including the recently acquired Mikros Animation.
The Montreal-based visual effects firm, renowned for its work on popular series and films such as Game of Thrones, Stranger Things, The Rings of Power, John Wick: Chapter 4, and Dune, heralds this opening as a pivotal moment for its operations in France.
This expansion comes two years after the company established a Paris outpost, motivated by France’s push to enhance its international post-production offerings through a VFX incentive that includes a 10% bonus on the 30% Tax Rebate for International Production (TRIP) alongside infrastructural investments.
The new studio, located on Rue Dieu near the Canal Saint Martin in the 10th arrondissement, encompasses all of Rodeo FX’s French divisions, including Film & Episodic, Advertising & Experiences, and Mikros Animation.
Sebastien Moreau, President and CEO of Rodeo FX, expressed pride in the rapid growth of their Paris office. “This expansion is a testament to the exceptional work delivered by our local teams and reinforces our decision to bolster Rodeo FX’s European presence,” he stated.
Spanning over 40,000 square feet, the new facility is designed to support the swift expansion of both Rodeo FX and Mikros Animation. This consolidation of teams aims to enhance collaboration across disciplines, streamline operations, and foster creativity across projects of all sizes.
“The journey we’ve made in just two years has been incredible, with every project pushing us further creatively and technically,” shared Franck Lambertz, VFX Supervisor and Head of the Paris Studio. “Entering this new chapter together, of bringing all our teams into a space as inspiring as this, only makes you want to try even harder.”
Rodeo FX’s Paris-based Film & Episodic division has contributed to prominent European productions, including Luc Besson’s Dracula and Alexandre Astier’s Kaamelott, and is currently working on new projects for Netflix and Pathé. Concurrently, the Advertising & Experiences team has delivered high-profile campaigns for luxury brands like Yves Saint Laurent, Chanel, and Hermès.
The move into the larger premises also supports the integration of Mikros Animation, which has garnered international acclaim for its work on PAW Patrol: The Mighty Movie and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Mutant Mayhem.
Julien Meesters, President of Mikros Animation, noted, “This move represents a key step in our integration within the Rodeo FX family. It’s a natural continuation of our journey, allowing us to leverage a global pipeline and innovative technologies for our next productions.”
