Riverside County Car Chase Ends in Crash and Standoff, Leading to Suspect’s Death
Riverside County, California – A police chase suspect has died following a dramatic encounter that included a crash and an ensuing SWAT standoff in Jurupa Valley. The incident began when the driver failed to pull over for Riverside County deputies, leading to a pursuit that ended with the suspect’s vehicle crashing into a wall in a residential neighborhood.
On Wednesday, April 8, SkyFOX captured footage of the chase, which culminated when deputies deployed a grappler device to immobilize the suspect’s white Cadillac sedan. Following the crash, a standoff ensued around 3:30 p.m., lasting over two hours. During this time, SWAT team members utilized smoke to disorient the driver before forcefully entering the vehicle to extract them.
Authorities have reported that the suspect allegedly took their own life at some point during the standoff. As of 9 p.m., it remains unclear whether this occurred before, during, or after the crash. Investigators are still determining if the individual had any connections to other criminal activities.
