Reindeer Make a Surprise Appearance on LA Freeway
Reindeer Run on LA Freeway Draws Attention
LOS ANGELES – In a remarkable scene shortly before Christmas, two reindeer were spotted dashing down the busy 5 Freeway near San Fernando, creating a surreal moment for onlookers.
On December 13, witnesses reported that the reindeer, named Noel and Cookie, had escaped from their transport trailer. Video footage shared by a local individual shows crews working to ensure the animals’ safety as they weaved through traffic.
Steven Bracamontes, who recorded the incident, described his surprise upon seeing the animals. "Then I saw a reindeer, not a regular reindeer," he remarked, highlighting the unexpected nature of the event.
Los Angeles Animal Services, in coordination with Caltrans and a volunteer, successfully rounded up the wandering reindeer. After being temporarily taken to West Valley Animal Center for evaluation, both Noel and Cookie were found uninjured and later reunited with their owner.
While the method of their escape from the trailer remains unclear, this unusual occurrence has certainly left a memorable mark on the community.
