Regional Playoff Matchups for High School Basketball Teams: Boys and Girls
Southern California High School Basketball Playoff Pairings Announced
SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA — The first round of the high school basketball playoffs kicks off this week, featuring a series of matchups across multiple divisions.
In the Boys Open Division, games are scheduled for Wednesday at 7 p.m. The top-seeded Sierra Canyon has received a bye, while #5 Santa Margarita will visit #4 Redondo Union. Other key matchups include #6 Sherman Oaks Notre Dame at #3 Santa Maria St. Joseph, and #2 Harvard-Westlake awaiting its opponent.
Division I action takes place on Tuesday, beginning with #16 Mater Dei facing #1 La Mirada. Additional matchups include #9 JSerra at #8 Francis Parker and #12 Rancho Christian at #5 Victory Christian Academy.
The Boys Division II games also occur on Tuesday, featuring #16 Bakersfield Centennial at #1 Eastvale Roosevelt, and #9 Mira Mesa at #8 Palisades, among others.
As for Division III, the competition will start Tuesday with #16 Narbonne at #1 Gahr and #9 Rancho Bernardo taking on #8 Shalhevet.
In Division IV, #16 Salesian will face #1 Tulare Union on Tuesday, while Division V features top seed Coalinga with a bye and #9 Verdugo Hills playing #8 Colton.
The Girls Open Division will see all teams with byes, including the top-seeded Sierra Canyon, #4 Sage Hill, #3 Etiwanda, and #2 Ontario Christian on Wednesday.
Division I for girls will feature #16 Windward at #1 Mater Dei on Tuesday, alongside several other exciting matches such as #9 Westview vs. #8 La Salle.
In Division II, the girls’ matchups include #16 Mission Oak at #1 Birmingham and #12 LA Hamilton at #5 Grossmont, while Division III will see #16 Burbank Burroughs face #1 Murrieta Valley.
Division IV action starts Tuesday with #16 Escondido at #1 Marina, and Division V includes #16 University Prep / Legacy taking on #1 Rosamond.
Looking ahead, quarterfinals for Divisions I-V are set for Thursday, March 5. Semifinals will follow on Saturday, March 7, with finals planned for Tuesday, March 10. The state championships are scheduled for March 13-14 at the Golden 1 Center in Sacramento.
