Redondo Union’s Strong Rebounding Shines in Victory Against Sherman Oaks Notre Dame
In an impactful semifinal matchup at the Tarkanian Classic in Las Vegas, Redondo Union outperformed Sherman Oaks Notre Dame, securing a 78-68 victory on Monday night. Dominating the rebounding game, Redondo Union (10-2) recorded 40 rebounds compared to Notre Dame’s (8-3) 26.
Rebounding emerged as a key issue for Notre Dame following the departure of Tyran Stokes. SJ Madison led Redondo Union with an impressive performance, scoring 24 points and grabbing 10 rebounds. NaVorro Bowman contributed significantly for Notre Dame, finishing with 22 points. Following this win, Redondo Union is set to face Timpview from Utah in the championship game. Timpview advanced by narrowly defeating Santa Margarita, 61-59.
In other semifinal action, La Mirada defeated San Gabriel Academy 66-53, with Gene Roebuck leading the charge with 29 points. JSerra edged out Edgewater in a close contest, winning 60-57, thanks to Jaden Bailes’ standout effort of 31 points. Additionally, Oak Park triumphed over Newbury Park, 77-58, propelled by junior Beau Prophete, who notched 37 points and five blocks.
In the girls’ basketball division, Birmingham achieved a dominant 72-30 victory over Las Vegas Palo Verde, highlighted by Kiara Wakabi’s 16 points.
