Ray Mendoza to Direct New Western Drama ‘Blood On the Promontory’
Ray Mendoza, recognized for his acclaimed work on Warfare, is set to direct his next feature film, Blood On the Promontory. The project, which Mendoza co-wrote with Alex Garland for A24, marks a significant progression in his filmmaking career.
Blood On the Promontory tells the gripping story of five convicts who are shackled together as they attempt to escape through the unforgiving mountains following a violent train robbery. The screenplay is penned by Evan Cooper.
The film is backed by producers Nina Yang Bongiovi, Paul Hadad, Glenn Kleczkowski, and Mark Gillard, with Danny Peykoff serving as executive producer through Big Newport Studios. Sales for the project are being managed by WME Independent.
Mendoza, a former Navy SEAL turned award-winning filmmaker, drew significant inspiration from his military background for his prior work, Warfare. This critically acclaimed action drama is based on his combat experiences during deployment in Iraq and reflects his commitment to telling authentic stories rooted in truth, adversity, and honor.
In addition to his film accomplishments, Mendoza has also contributed to the episodic series The Terminal List: Dark Wolf for Prime Video. He is represented by Underground and WME. Evan Cooper is represented by Range Media Partners and WME.
