Rancho Cucamonga Man Taken into Custody for Attempted Kidnapping
Ontario Police Arrest Suspected Kidnapper
ONTARIO, Calif. – The Ontario Police Department has apprehended a 29-year-old man from Rancho Cucamonga on suspicion of attempted kidnapping.
Authorities report that the suspect, identified as Israel Alejandro Carrizalez, was arrested after a witness intervened during a disturbing incident on Saturday night. The witness saw Carrizalez allegedly trying to drag a woman into his vehicle near the 2700 block of East Inland Empire Boulevard around 10:10 p.m.
"The witness then heard the woman screaming for help and observed a male, later identified as Carrizalez, attempting to drag her into his vehicle," the Ontario police stated in a press release. After the witness approached, Carrizalez released the victim and fled the scene.
Police arrived promptly and interviewed the victim and witnesses. The victim sustained minor injuries, including scratches and torn clothing.
Using intersection cameras, investigators located Carrizalez’s vehicle at a residence on Arrow Route in Rancho Cucamonga. He was arrested without incident.
Carrizalez has been charged with felony offenses, including kidnapping and false imprisonment, and is currently being held at the West Valley Detention Center on a $500,000 bail.
Authorities believe there may be additional victims and are encouraging anyone with relevant information to come forward.
