Rams Are Close to Making a Major Trade
Rams Pursue Major Trade for Cornerback Trent McDuffie
Los Angeles Rams general manager Les Snead is reportedly close to finalizing a trade with the Kansas City Chiefs to acquire cornerback Trent McDuffie, addressing a critical need on the team. This potential move comes as Snead showcases his penchant for impactful trades involving first-round draft picks.
Sources familiar with the ongoing negotiations indicate that the Rams are prepared to offer a package that includes their first-round pick, the 29th overall, along with fifth- and sixth-round selections from this year’s draft and a seventh-round pick in 2027, in exchange for McDuffie. The details were shared on the condition of anonymity since the agreement has yet to be officially confirmed.
At 25 years old, McDuffie has already made a significant impact in the NFL. A former standout at Anaheim Servite and Bellflower St. John Bosco High School, he was selected in the first round by the Chiefs in 2022. He was named an All-Pro in 2023 and has three career interceptions. With a salary of $13.6 million this season in the final year of his rookie contract, McDuffie is poised to enhance a cornerback group that struggled last season. During his tenure with the Chiefs, he forced eight fumbles, recorded three interceptions, and broke up 34 passes.
The acquisition of McDuffie would bolster the Rams’ defense and could be a pivotal step in revitalizing the team’s performance moving forward.

Opportunity Awaits Alex Freeland as Season Approaches
Alex Freeland, the 24-year-old infielder for the Los Angeles Dodgers, is seizing the moment as he aims to secure a more significant role on the team. Following a brief stint in the big leagues last season, Freeland looks to increase his playing time at second base, especially with veteran Tommy Edman expected to miss the start of the season due to an ankle injury.
Freeland, who participated in 29 games with the Dodgers last year, is among several players vying for a starting position, including second-year utility player Hyeseong Kim and veteran Miguel Rojas. Kim recently left for the World Baseball Classic, providing Freeland with additional opportunities to showcase his skills during the Cactus League season.
"I’m trying to make the most of it,” Freeland said. “It sucks that Tommy’s not ready…But with Hyeseong being gone, I am getting more reps at second and short, so I’m just trying to make the most of them.”
